⚠️ First, Understand What PET Is NOT
Many candidates make this mistake:
PET is not a job application.
Clearing PET does not give you a government job. It only makes you eligible to apply for future UPSSSC Group C Main Examinations. Your PET score is used as a gateway for multiple recruitments.
✅ Why PET Matters
If you are planning to apply for various UP Group C government jobs, PET is usually a mandatory prerequisite. A good PET score can open the door to many future Main Examinations.
✅ Eligibility
- ✅ Class 10 High School pass or equivalent from a recognised board.
- ✅ No upper qualification limit — graduates and postgraduates can also apply.
- ✅ Age: 18 to 40 years as on 1 July 2026.
- ✅ Preference in age relaxation/reservation is typically given to UP-domicile candidates.
Age relaxation: SC/ST/OBC, sportspersons, Ex-servicemen, PwBD, UP state government employees — as per standard UPSSSC rules.
📅 Important Dates
| Event | Date |
|---|
| Online registration and fee payment | 3 August – 1 September 2026 |
| Correction/fee reconciliation | Until 8 September 2026 |
| Exam date | To be announced separately |
🖥️ How to Apply
- Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on the UPSSSC portal — mandatory.
- Visit https://upsssc.gov.in
- Fill in the PET 2026 application form.
- Pay the application fee online.
- Submit before 1 September 2026.
Application mode: Online only. No offline/postal submissions accepted.
💳 Fee Structure
| Category | Fee |
|---|
| General/OBC | ₹185 |
| SC/ST | ₹95 |
| PwD | ₹25 |
Note: This fee is based on the previous cycle’s structure. Confirm against the current notification.
Important: The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable if the application is rejected or the candidate is found ineligible.
🧪 Selection Process
- Online examination is the sole mode of evaluation for PET itself.
- Your normalized PET score is then used to apply for separate Main Examinations for specific Group C posts.
- Each Main Examination has its own further selection process.
📝 Exam Pattern
| Detail | Information |
|---|
| Total Marks | 100 |
| Difficulty Level | NCERT Secondary/Senior Secondary level |
| Syllabus | Section-wise syllabus available in official notification |
The questions are based on Class 10th and 12th level difficulty.
💰 Salary
Not applicable at the PET stage.
Salary depends on whichever Group C post you eventually qualify for through a Main Examination.
🪤 The Biggest Trap
PET is not a job.
Clearing PET only makes you eligible to apply for future Main Examinations. It does not itself result in a job offer. Many candidates misunderstand this and think they have got a government job just by clearing PET.
⚠️ Important Warnings
- Online application only — No offline or postal applications are accepted.
- Non-refundable fee — Even if your application is rejected or you are found ineligible, the fee will not be refunded.
- Low PET score can limit your options — Since your PET score is used for future Main Exams, a low score can reduce which Main Exams you can competitively apply for.
✅ Self-Check Before Applying
- I am Class 10 pass or equivalent.
- My age is between 18 and 40 years as on 1 July 2026.
- I understand PET is a qualifying exam, not a job.
- I have completed or can complete UPSSSC One-Time Registration.
- I am ready to apply online before 1 September 2026.
